European marketing and PR director Martin Schneider said the popular sports franchise has sales of over 55.5 million units to date. “PES 2010 is Konami’s largest release of the year,” he said. Konami said the game, releasing today, “will become a million-selling title at launch.”
Schneider added, “We expect a very strong performance from what is easily the best PES in a long, long time.” While the game is launching on Xbox 360, PS3, PC, and mobile this week, versions for PSP, PS2, and Wii will arrive in November in Europe. Schneider also confirmed that the game will receive downloadable content sometime in 2010.
Earlier this week, tracking firm Chart-Track said EA Sports’ competing soccer game FIFA 10 reached 1 million in sales in the UK in its first week of availability, three weeks faster than last year’s FIFA 09.
