Will ‘Modern Warfare 2′ Be A Third Person Shooter?

Modern Warfare 2 could have an unexpected trick up its sleeve – a third person view, as supposedly unearthed by someone lucky enough to have bagged an early copy of the game.

Leaked footage of the new mode looks convincing, and the detached camera does a remarkable job of keeping up with Modern Warfare 2′s hyperkinetic action.

Further leaks have sprung from the prematurely released copy, with full details of the game’s many multiplayer modes also being listed.

The leaked copy is in French, but swift translators have spotted modes such as 3rd Person Team Deathmatch and Cage Match 3rd Person, all of which would back up the 3rd person claims.

This could be shenanigans and possibly nothing more than a new replay mode, but there’s some convincing evidence to back up the claims. We’ve reached out to Activision for confirmation, but don’t expect anything beyond a refusal to comment.
