TRAILER: Is ‘Date Night’ Worth A Date Night Of Your Own?
Right now in the world of TV comedy, Tina Fey and Steve Carell are the ‘Prom Queen and King’, and with all that popularity comes the price of raised expectations. The couples comedy Date Night, starring Fey and Carell as a married couple looking to spice up their romance, was bound to be scrutinized.
Clark Kent says: Would you take a date to see this movie? Check out the trailer after the jump!
So now that the first trailer has arrived (via Apple), reactions have been mixed. But there’s hope for this film, if for no other reason than the fact that Fey and Carell are some of the most talented comedians working right now (although I’m still holding out for Fey to start writing some more movies of her own).
Date Night was directed by Shawn Levy (of Night at The Museum fame) and written by Josh Klausner, who only has a couple of credits as a writer (mainly for Shrek films). But Klausner has also worked with the Farrelly brothers, so he must know his way around a joke, right? There’s a strong supporting cast of funny folks like James Franco, Mila Kunis, Jason Segel, and Kristen Wiig.
Clark Kent says: Neither Carrell or Fey have lost their comedy magic, but while this film stands unrated, it could end up being a 40-Year-Old Virgin sleeper hit, right? You be the judge. Peep the trailer below!

[...] Everyone has had their heartbroken. They say it is within that pain that one finds inspiration, strength, and motivation to grow as a person and a lover. Simply put Penelope broke my heart. She was the one I gave my all to. In high school, my close friends Terry and Terrell and I all had girlfriends, and in an attempt to brand the occasion we called our ladies “Dimes of the Dynasty” — after our crew’s name “The Dynasty”. Fun times were had by all, but behind-the-scenes the one who was my girlfriend held me down like no one had ever done before. Contrary to what your eyes may tell you when you look at me, I was a bad kid. I wouldn’t let anyone tell me how to love someone and Penelope was the same as I. We were two peas in a pod and went through a lot together. During the course of dating for three years I, in the name of love, had been kicked out of my parent’s house on numerous times, been homeless, slept in cars on four separate occasions, and she was getting the boot too. Truly it was us against the world… and in love… a point that we both enjoyed reveling in while my friends in “The Dynasty” were going through their own turmoil. [...]
