It’s A Small World After All… Facebook To Be The Next PS3 Update!
The world’s about to get that bit smaller for PS3 users. The Sony console may soon be getting integrated Facebook skills, along with customisable PlayStation ID cards.
Clark Kent says: What’s next… Wall-E?
The discovery came after images on the net were spotted by ScrawlFX of what appears to be an embedded Facebook application in the PS3’s media bar.
Thanks to the existing PS3 web browser owners of the console can already access the social site, but it looks like Sony’s planning a more PS3-friendly built-in service possibly similar to that set to appear on Xbox 360.
Nifty detective work also uncovered an image hosted on the UK PlayStation site of what looks like a customisable PlayStation Network ID as spotted by Scrawlfx.
The likely addition of Facebook to PS3 shouldn’t come as too much of a shock, mind.
Sony Computer Entertainment worldwide studios president, Shuhei Yoshida previously hinted that the feature could one day appear as a feature of the console.
“Something like 300 million people already have accounts on Facebook. Why should we ignore that?,” he said in September.
Clark Kent says: I can answer that question… Because not everyone wants to have to be tagged onto Facebook from every possible angle. Le SIGH!!!
