VIRGINIA SLIMS: Curvy Conversation With Angelica Casañas
Clark Kent says: I was never good with numbers, but I can say that the arithmetic surrounding Ms. Angelica Casañas is pretty serious. Find out what this week’s mathematics are after the jump.
You definitely need your late pass if you haven’t heard of Angelica Casañas. Getting her start performing on the Spanish-language variety show ‘Sabado Gigante‘, dancing in a Spanish folk group with her sisters, Angelica threw caution to the win after a dare led her to join a model search. Since then the woman better known as Angelica Curves has made her presence known in front of the camera and in music videos and magazines. This week’s VIRGINIA SLIMS may have earned her nickname due to her bodacious body, but she earned her respect through cultivating her career. Ms. Casañas talks about discovering her passion, gives her pros and cons on the Internet, and explains why she’s a bonafide superwoman. Enjoy!
DLYDJ: Can you describe how you felt once you discovered what you wanted to do as a career?
AC: I had so many mixed emotions once I figured out what I wanted to do as my career. I was always very determined and excited once I had an idea. My whole life did a 360. I had fears and doubts like anyone else but I continued to believe in myself and my ability to do it! My passion was stronger than my fears. I took my time and did it step by step. Before I knew it I had accomplished so much. I was doing things that I would have never done or experienced at the beginning of my career and since then I’ve felt so alive! I want to let the people know that God only puts things in your path that he knows you can handle and overcome. To avoid those pitfalls one must have persistence, patience, and perseverance which equals success! Don’t be afraid to ask questions!
DLYDJ: Okay, okay… I won’t be afraid to ask this next one. The Internet has opened up the flow of communication to where regular Joe Schmoes can talk to the superstars of today. Do you think that the Internet has now become the great equalizer?
AC: [Laughs] I think the Internet is great! I have a friend that is an inmate and that’s how we mainly keep in touch. As long as the way people use it is positive then I don’t see anything wrong with the Internet. Whenever I need information or I want to get in touch with someone the Internet is there for me. I like it that my fans can get in touch with me if they like. I like sharing my personal experiences with people, too! It’s amazing what the Internet is capable of doing for you these days. Being known on the Internet has its pros and cons. You can keep yourself up-to-date on the news, trends, information, and are able to network and stay in touch with people all over the world. Those are the pros. Some cons are that everyone has access to you! For example: Bow Wow just made a mistake not too long ago on Twitter. He thought that he sent a DM [direct message] to a Twitter friend. Instead it was a public message. I did the same thing not too long ago. It can get messy. The ultimate pro is the fact that my fans are very supporting. The most interesting thing one of them requested of me was to pray for his family member that was in the hospital. He reached out to me directly. It touched me. Sometimes I forget how much impact someone in your life can make without even really knowing them.
DLYDJ: How much of an impact has video games made in your childhood? When did you lose your video game virginity?
AC: [Laughs] My mother never wanted to get my three sisters and I a video game system because we didn’t know how to share! My dad… he didn’t want us to become zombies. Eventually my cousin let me play at his house. The first game I got my hands on was ‘Super Mario Bros.’ I can’t remember how it made me feel exactly, but I would stay over there playing the game for hours! I was determined to beat the whole game. Through it all I liked playing that game, but I loved playing outside! My real life is like a video game adventure. You can call me Lara Croft [laughs]! I’m smart, athletic, complicated, and fierce — gun included [laughs].
DLYDJ: Your Facebook page has so many friends that you can’t add anymore! So with that in mind what would be something they could get you for your birthday?
AC: [Laughs] Honestly, I wish I could add everyone. I have about 4,000 Facebook friends that are still pending. I just can’t approve any of them. I do have a fan page now! But if I could get some gifts from my lovelies for my birthday I would have to say that I’d want everyone to wish and pray that I have a great birthday on my page, sign-up for my mailing list, and go to MaximOnline.com and request they put me on the cover [laughs]. Oh, and everyone should send me a dollar to my PayPal account and stop sending me Facebook event invites — I get way too many to keep up with!
DLYDJ: Your name definitely fits the frame. Angelica Curves. Have those angles and slants ever got you into any trouble?
AC: They tend to attract trouble [laughs]! For the most part though it has always got me out of trouble. Sometimes I daydream that my body has superpowers and that I could protect mankind with them. My touch would heal people, my eyes would give folks hope and comfort, my skin would be impenetrable, my hips would knock you out of this world! I would have an ill mixture of Wolverine, Professor Xavier, and Rogue.
DLYDJ: Okay, Super Curves! [Laughs] The world seems to be moving faster and faster and you’re not exactly quicker than a speeding bullet. What do you do to relax and take out some time for yourself?
AC: I think I’m a superwoman sometimes and I forget to slow down and just take it all in. I relieve stress by working out. It helps me so much and I have a big passion for exercise and fitness. Sometimes I just put my phone on ignore, don’t answer it unless it’s life threatening, and just relax. I like to spend time with my family even if it’s just at home playing Bing with them. I have a big family and they are hilarious. I tend to sit back and observe. I’ll pop in a movie at home and just cuddle up. I absolutely love going to the beach with the girls or go out to the stores and shop with them. I even go out by myself and try not to get on the phone. I just try to be in the moment and enjoy myself.
