If you have been living in a cave for the past week, you might have heard that Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg bought the popular iPhone photo-sharing app for a cool billion dollars. With that in mind, we here at Don’t Lose Your Day Job wanted to salute all of the dope #InstaGamers out there in InstaGram-land for sharing their love of videogames with us!

This new weekly franchise will showcase the best and most charismatic gamers on the World Wide Web. So, without further ado, allow us to salute this week’s #InstaGamers for the week of May 14 – May 20!

Every guy has dreams of having his favorite girl gaming character on his arm at some point. Whether its walking into the room with Lara Croft; busting your guns in the street with Samus; or even play fighting with Tifa — it’s no secret that every badass gamer needs an even radder gaming girl. With that in mind, Don’t Lose Your Day Job proudly present VIRGINIA SLIMS—showcasing the best digital video game vixens on this side of the InternetS!

From week to week, we’ll profile the sexiest women that you need to know about. Allow us to introduce you to the oh-so-healthy superstar known as Bella Ivory. The Los Angeles transplant left the cozy confines of Cleveland, Ohio to further her acting career. After making a name for herself in localized commercials for McDonald’s and the Calvetta Brothers, Bella made her feature film debut alongside Ryan Gosling in George Clooney‘s The Ides of March.

In this week’s installment of VIRGINIA SLIMS, Bella Ivory plays casting director and let’s us know which classic videogame she’d like turned into a summer blockbuster; answers which videogame character she’d have cyber sex with; and explains how she lost her video game virginity. Enjoy!

Don’t Lose Your Day Job: Name two people you are attracted to in the industry and why? What would you like people to be attracted to when it comes to you?

Bella Ivory: The people that I’m attracted to are Reggie Bush and Lupe Fiasco. It’s obvious why I like Reggie, but with Lupe, he’s dope because he’s just very conscious and influential. I think we would have a lot in common. Quite honestly, Lupe is my future husband [laughs]! I would personally want people to be into me for both those reasons—conscious and influential. I want to be thought of as somewhat attractive because with rappers like Lil Wayne on top of the game, Black girls/women need someway to know that they are beautiful if the mainstream isn’t going to show it. I want to be a role model and influence a lot of people towards the good.

DLYDJ: PS3 or Xbox 360?

BI: [Laughs] I’m so old school, I have to show my gaming age with this one: Super Nintendo [laughs].

DLYDJ: 2012 seems to be the year where every nerds fantasy is heading to the big screen. The Dark Knight Rises, The Avengers, and there’s even talk of a Need for Speed movie. If you could pick one video game to be turned into a blockbuster film—what would it be and why?

BI: I told you that I’m straight Nintendo, right?! So, I’ll have to say that I’d love to see a Donkey Kong live-action movie [laughs]. I just think that would be so cool after seeing Planet of the Apes, it could be another big monkey action movie! If I was in charge of casting, I could see James Earl Jones as the voice of Donkey Kong. Dixie Kong would be Dakota Fanning; Diddy Kong would be voiced by Shia LaBeouf; but I don’t know about the rest of the Kong family—it’s pretty extensive!

DLYDJ: When did you lose your video game virginity?

BI: [Laughs] I think I was like 6-years-old and my first game was, of course, Duck Hunt for the NES. I remember how much fun I had playing it. I was never really good at the more advanced video games. I don’t think I have the finger coordination, but I really enjoyed Duck Hunt. I enjoyed losing my video game virginity to it [laughs]. As I got older, I took some typing courses to improve my finger coordination!

DLYDJ: If you could have cyber sex with one video game character who would it be and why?

BI: I know this guy doesn’t have the best videogames, but he sure is hot to look at. I’d have to say Superman. [Laughs] Let’s see if kryptonite is his only weakness!

DLYDJ: As an actor, the key to being a success is mastering believability. With that in mind, what are three ways someone can make you believe that they’re a videogame fiend?

BI: If they have a GameStop membership then that is one way to get my attention on their fiend-dom-ness! If they have every system known to man and still lives in their mama’s basement, then they’re alright with me. [Laughs] I’m just kidding about the latter part of that. If a gamer wants to show me how much of a fiend they are then they’d have to have Lost Saga downloaded on their PC.

DLYDJ: If you ruled the video gaming world, you would…?

BI: I’d try to cut down on the Grand Theft Auto type of games that flood the market these days. I’d want to change the way that they are and make them more interactive—like the [Nintendo] Wii and Xbox Kinect. The goal would be to take the popular games and use them to cut down on some of the childhood obesity levels that we have here in America.

DLYDJ: The best way to convince your girl to get into playing video games would be to…?

BI: I think that the best way is to try and get a game that your woman can relate to and then slowly pull her deeper into your gaming world. For example, I think a lot of people would try Dance Central 2 even if it was just for exercise—as long as you were playing with her. If she is into fitness then get a game that’s in the field of her interest and she’ll get used to the thought of being a gamer. Your suaveness should be able to be used to broaden her horizon.

#AMsalute gorgeous gamers and goons! Your favorite neighborhood Ghost Ridah checking in with y’all to take you on another I WISH I WAS THERE adventure. This week, Kate Upton managed to somehow catch Hassan Fuckry with his “pants on the ground,” and yours truly had to convince El Gestapo from stealing the million dollar check from MLB 2K12 $1 Million Perfect Game Challenge Tournament winner Christopher Gilmore.

As we walked up to the entryway to the MLB Fan Cave, you could tell that serious business was going down inside. Two big security guards were checking anything that looked suspicious, so you know we got the red carpet treatment right from the gate. “What are you guys here for? Private event!!” said a bald-headed brolic badman. Once inside, we got a chance to look at the Fan Cave living room. You can see for yourself in the gallery below. The setup was primed and ready for TV, yet our fearless EIC Hassan Fuckry felt more comfortable behind-the-scenes than sitting in front of the cameras.

Luckily, yours truly isn’t afraid to get his shine on! With the bossman away, it was time to play ball and I had a front row seat for all the action. The two-day event featured eight finalists and was the World Series of an overall competition that saw more than 940,000 perfect-game attempts since Opening Day of the Major League Baseball season and more than 900 verified perfect games thrown. But this wasn’t a Subway series match between New York’s elite teams, instead Christopher Gilmore of Cocoa, Florida took on Charlie Bates of Conway, Arkansas in the final match of the single-elimination tournament. Gilmore chose the New York Yankees with CC Sabathia leading the troops and Bates chose to be the Detroit Tigers, choosing to start Justin Verlander in hopes of taking home the grand prize.

Meanwhile, Hassan was backstage choppin’ it up with Travis Moses while secretly attempting to get Kate “Cat Daddy” Upton‘s attention. He told me before disappearing into the back that he was going to show her a new dance that she would never forget and leave a $1,000,000 richer! You never know what to make of those comments [laughs]! With the game set at Comerica Park, the two combatants sat in chairs in front of a big screen and played every inning with cameras everywhere. The bright lights didn’t seem to phase either gamer, but that didn’t mean that the SPIKE TV extravaganza didn’t have its moments. From us in the studio audience sneaking random shots during the hotly contested battle to watching the legendary Harold Goldberg sit off to the side, allowing videogame magic to happen naturally, the MLB 2K12 $1 Million Perfect Game Challenge Tournament was full of spectacle.

Unbeknownst to us all, the real spectacle was taking place in a small back room, as Hassan had finally found the location of the check to be presented to the day’s champion. It was bigger than you’d imagine, but typical of cheeky shows like this, and boy was Hassan trying to really make us The Recessionist’s Guide to Gaming. Just when he thought that we would have enough funding to make our #creativist dreams come true, Cat Daddy walks in with Geoff Keighley and Harold Reynolds making the situation quickly awkward.

With ninja-like ingenuity, Hassan went into The Fuckry Files and pulled out a doozy. Quickly dropping his pants with hobo-like aplomb, Hassan did his best Damon Wayans impression and confidently spouted out, “HEY KATIE! BABY I WANNA SHOW YOU A NEW DANCE!” Usually unimpressed with such antics, the supermodel decided to see where it was going (probably thinking it was a @2KSports prank), and humored him. Right on cue, El Gestapo managed to pull of a perfect rendition of Pants On The Ground by American Idol‘s Larry Platt. But y’all the kicker of this whole story is that SHE JOINED IN!!! Supermodel Kate Upton stealthily stopped the theft of $1,000,000 due to her street dance knowledge!

I managed to find Hassan and Kate sharing a few club war stories, while Geoff and Harold sat in the back getting camera-ready fresh! Huge shoutout to the Cat Daddy Queen for stopping Hassan Fuckry! Little did you know, he was about to crash the video clip YOU can check out for yourself below.

Sony’s officially lifted the veil off Soul Sacrifice, giving the game its first official trailer following a Famitsu blowout yesterday. The game, being made as a collaboration between Studio Japan, Marvelous and ex-Capcom dev boss Keiji Inafune, is set to arrive this winter in Japan for Vita.

Don’t Lose Your Day Job: Name two people you are attracted to in the industry and why? What would you like people to be attracted to when it comes to you?

Wahidah Fowler: When it comes to my Fine Arts career, I am attracted to the style of Kehinde Wiley. He is extraordinary to me because he is a young, African American artist that went places many artists of the 21st Century have not gone. He puts artist of color on the map and places masterpieces of Black figures in museums and that is a feat rarely seen today. He paints Black men in such a positive light by allowing the figures that he creates to look powerful, heroic and majestic while still dressed in urban attire. He is a true example of an individual that did not change for the industry, but instead forced the industry to change for him.

When it comes to my own presenting career, I am most attracted to Wendy Williams. I enjoy the fact that she is outspoken and is not afraid to give her opinion no matter what the consequences are. She takes up room, has a big personality, big hair and a big mouth [laughs] I appreciate her success because it shows that you can always grow! She shows that no matter how much one has accomplished or what hurdles one has encountered, you can still elevate yourself to a higher plateau.

Lastly, when it comes to me, I want people to be attracted to my diversity. I am a true renaissance woman and I enjoy taking on multiple tasks and mastering each one of those tasks to the best of my ability. I want them to look beyond my physical appearance and know that i am more than what meets the eye.

DLYDJ: PS3 or Xbox 360?

WF: Nintendo Wii [laughs].

DLYDJ: As a gorgeous gamer, you’ve probably heard a ton of nice, creative compliments throughout the years, but what would be your top five worst come-ons of 2012, so far?

WF: I am a New Yorker so when I was exiting out of a station’s turnstile this man asked if I could swipe him through. I swiped my card for him and then he said, “Can I take you out?” I responded, “Didn’t you just ask me for a metro card swipe?” I kept walking. Another time this guy said, “Hey Ma!!???” I quickly said, “Sorry, I’m not interested.” “Why?” he said. “I have and a man,” I responded. The guy had the nerve to say, “And I have a girl!” I thought that she must be a very lucky lady—which abruptly ended the conversation.

The third worst come-on I ever experienced had to do with a guy who wanted his hair done. Funny thing was, he had a bald head. “Hey, can you do my hair?” he asked. I promptly ignored him [laughs]. There was this one time where a guy had asked me, “Are you a personal trainer?” I wasn’t and still am not in the business of training people, so I answered, “No.” Considering himself witty, this guy said, “You can still work me out!” Another ignore. The last, and possibly worst, come-on I received was when this guy was trying to get my attention by saying, “Hey miss…” I pretend as if I couldn’t hear him because I didn’t feel like being bothered. He insisted on getting my attention!

Just when I thought I escaped the harassment, the guy yells out, “DAMN GIRL! YOU HAVE A TONED BOOTY!!!!” At that moment, I’m still pretending as if I can’t hear him, but then he screams out at the top of his lungs, “DAMN GIRL! YOUR BOOOOOTTTTYYY!!!” I’m heading towards the train station and this guy is literally walking behind me, bellowing out to anyone who will pay him any attention, “LOOK AT HER BOOTY! DAMN GIRL!!” Now, I am on an escalator and he’s standing at the bottom still screaming. He just stayed there screaming. I even heard him when I waited for the train to take off and a bit while actually on the train. It was insane! Only in New York, right?!

DLYDJ: When did you lose your video game virginity?

WF: I lost my video game virginity to Mortal Kombat when I was about eight-years-old. That game was so amazing! I had it for my [Sega] Genesis game system at the time. I was always Sheeva because she was fly with her beautifully toned body, multiple arms and the ability to kick butt! She really held it down for the ladies.

DLYDJ: If you could have cyber sex with one video game character who would it be?

WF: Mario from Super Mario Bros. because I have loved that game my entire life! So that means I have loved him my entire life [laughs]!

DLYDJ: What is more attractive in your opinion? A nerd or a geek?

WF: I honestly feel like geeks have more character. They stand out! People usually say, “There goes that geek!” or “Look at the Geek Squad!” That is really cool to me. I say embrace who you are and love it. On the contrary, though, I think that nerds blend in. You cannot tell who is and who is not a nerd. So, with that in mind, my vote of attractiveness goes to geeks!

DLYDJ: If you ruled the video gaming world, you would…?

WF: …Create games that portray characters of color in a more diverse light. Videogames are just as stereotypical as television when it comes to characters of color being showcased to the mass public. Usually they’re limited to being a basketball player, thief or killer! I wonder will there every be a Super Mario Brotha?

DLYDJ: Last question, Wahidah… The best way to convince your girl to get into playing video games would to be to…?

WF: Make sure that every time you convince your girlfriend to play, especially if it is a fighting game, you let her win. That way when you stop wanting to play, she would start! [Laughs] I know, clever, right!?!

Gamers, goons and girls—lend me your gamertags! It’s your favorite neighborhood Ghost Ridah back in effect to keep you abreast of all the dope events you’ve been wanting to attend! After celebrating the launch of our web-based battleship, the gang and I kept our name bubbling with a few events, and eventually found ourselves in the eye of the storm—Electronic Arts‘ Sports Challenge. Taking place at New York‘s Terminal 5 in Midtown, the event found gamers from all over stepping up the plate to become the #1 badass in Madden 2012, FIFA 2012 and NHL 2012. Yet all El Gestapo could talk about was who would win that $1,000,000 grand prize.

“Do you think they’ll actually make it out the spot with the check in hand?” he asked me. You can never be too sure if he’s joking or being serious—I guess that all comes with the name?! I nodded in agreement, not wanting to give the wrong answer (the pool prize was split), and when we finally arrived at the venue we were not surprised that all the hoopla was going on inside. Quickly, we checked in on things and begun looking for our first opponent! You see we weren’t entering into @EA‘s contest at all, we were on a mission to prove that we’re the underground’s #1 videogame website. Period.

In the building were names you don’t know and some you’re all too familiar with. We weren’t concerned with that, as Hassan Fuckry and Scruffy McGhee scoured the room for competition. What was I doing, you wonder? You can see that in the gallery below! Immediately, Mr. McGhee managed to get his hands on the PS3 controller and engage in NHL 2012. While his competition wanted to remain anonymous in this week’s installment of I WISH I WAS THERE, the battle between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Boston Bruins was full of enough shiite talking to make a nun break a ruler over her head. In the end though, Sidney Crosby scored two hat tricks winning the game 6-3.

The main event of the night was Hassan Fuckry versus Team eNigma. A few of their best and brightest didn’t make the cut after being eliminated from Madden 2012—so we decided to engage in an epic tête-à-tête over the Fight Night that we snuggled into Terminal 5. Looking to add “champion” into his list of The Fuckry Files accomplishments, Hassan managed to take the undersized Roy Jones Jr. and hold his own against eNigma’s Rocky-esque battalion. Without going into full detail, you can say that whenever we get a chance to reach the United Kingdom, El Gestapo can put his U.S. Heavyweight championship belt on the line in hopes of unifying the titles.

To commemorate the win over one of the Queen’s most dangerous eSports organizations, Yonker’s own Jadakiss was on hand to perform some of his classic hits for gamers of all ages. Well, not really, but you get the point! You can watch the D-Block general run in the video below:
