<p>The new <em><a href="http://movies.ign.com/objects/041/041175.html">Judge Dredd</a></em> movie just got a bit more interesting, with <em>2000AD</em> artist Mark &#8216;Jock&#8217; Simpson announcing on his <em>Twitter</em> page (as <strong><a href="http://splashpage.mtv.com/2009/09/08/judge-dredd-movie-and-kevin-smith-on-archie-veronica-in-todays-twitter-report/" target="_blank">reported by MTV</a></strong>) that <a href="http://stars.ign.com/objects/918/918263.html">Alex Garland</a> would be writing a draft of he script. <span id="more-1646"></span></p>
<p><a href="http://www.ign.com" target="_blank"><strong>VIA IGN:</strong></a></p>
<p>Garland previously wrote <em><a href="http://movies.ign.com/objects/033/033879.html">The Beach</a></em>, <em><a href="http://movies.ign.com/objects/150/150877.html">28 Days Later</a></em> and <em><a href="http://movies.ign.com/objects/734/734911.html">Sunshine</a></em> for Oscar-winning director <a href="http://stars.ign.com/objects/912/912587.html">Danny Boyle</a>.</p>
<p>Simpson&#8217;s exact tweet was: &#8220;<em>Working through script visuals for Judge Dredd movie. Alex Garland writes a great script</em>.&#8221;</p>
<p>The news is actually not that much of surprise, considering Danny Boyle&#8217;s production company DNA Films is shepherding the project, along with 2000AD publisher Rebellion.</p>
<p>Nonetheless, the involvement of such a talented writer should hopefully ensure this version of Dredd fares better than the 1995 effort, which starred <a href="http://stars.ign.com/objects/911/911724.html">Sylvester Stallone</a> in the title role.</p>
<p><strong>Clark Kent says: </strong><em>This will be waaaaayyyyy better than the Sly Stallone flick. But even that has its charm and appeal. Remember?</em></p>
