Clark Kent says: Remember in July when we posted up news about G4 partnering with Marvel to produce four original series featuring the franchise’s fiercest warriors? Don’t Lose Your Day Job has the first episode of ‘Iron Man’ a whole year early. See for yourself after the jump!

As the exclusive U.S. television home for Iron Man, X-Men, Wolverine, and Blade — presented in an edgy new anime styled world — the series was set to premiere on the network in 2011, according to an announcement during this year’s Comic-Con in San Diego.

Multiple Eagle award winner Warren Ellis is guiding the show, and will feature interlinked storylines, shared guest characters, and more — that will be an awesome roller-coaster ride for fans new and old alike.

The synopsis for Iron Man is below:

Iron Man – In an effort to make amends for his weapons manufacturing past, Tony Stark has dedicated himself to building the world up rather than tearing it down. Traveling to Japan to build a new arc reactor that will deliver unlimited free energy to the Japanese people, Stark is challenged by the Japanese government and the media when he attempts to import the necessary nuclear priming device. And when the reactor-in-construction is repeatedly attacked by the mysterious Zodiac consortium, Stark must gather his allies to take on Zodiac and its mastermind.

New animated series The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes! will premiere Wednesday, October 20 at 8:30 p.m., ET/PT on Disney XD.

Produced by Marvel Animation, the series features Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, The Hulk, Ant-Man/Giant Man and Wasp. They form The Avengers, a team assembled when the powers of a single hero are not enough to save the world.

Beginning Wednesday, September 22, Disney XD, DisneyXD.com/Avengers, Marvel.com, MarvelKids.com and Disney XD Mobile will roll out 20 micro-episodes introducing the team’s core members. Each five-and-half-minute episode focuses on the back story, allies and nemeses of the heroes before the Avengers were formed.

In the two-part series premiere, “The Breakout,” Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Ant-Man and Wasp have defeated some of the most dangerous Super Villains on the planet. But when the Super Villain prison system mysteriously shuts down, chaos is unleashed on the world. Earth’s Mightiest Heroes must now band together as the Avengers to protect the planet from the threats that no single Super Hero could face alone. Their first task is to try and stop Graviton, a being whose power dwarfs anything ever seen. He’s after Nick Fury, but will destroy the world to get to him. Individually the heroes have no chance, but together they can make a difference.

Disney XD will air a special sneak peek of the first micro-series episode, “Iron Man is Born!,” at 8:30 p.m., ET/PT directly following premiere of the network’s newest series, “Pair of Kings.”

DisneyXD.com/Avengers, Marvel.com, MarvelKids.com and Disney XD Mobile will unveil a new micro-episode every day, for 20 days, leading up to the micro-episodes’ premiere on Disney XD. DisneyXD.com/Avengers will also feature a gallery of each of the Avengers and offer inside information about Kang, Loki and the rest of the “most wanted” Marvel Super Villains.

Tuesday, October 5:

Select micro-episodes will be made available as a free preview on iTunes.

Monday, October 11:

Disney XD will roll out all 20 micro-episodes during “Avengers Week” from Monday, October 11 to Friday, October 15, with four micro-episodes stacked each night at 8:30 p.m., ET/PT.

The complete micro-series becomes available on Disney XD on Demand on AT&T, Verizon, Charter and Cox.

Wednesday, October 20:

Idris Elba, who can be seen in Takers this weekend, talked to USA Weekend about playing Heimdall in Thor and mentioned how many Marvel Studios movies he’s committed to appearing in.

You just finished your stint filming Thor as the Asgardian warrior Heimdall. How was that?
It was dope. It was an interesting genre of film to make. I had never done comic book stuff, so that was really great.

What was the coolest part?
Just the bigness of the show. It’s so epic, these huge sets were just amazing to look at. And they really pay attention to detail. When you read the comics, you see all the drawings, and to actually see them in real life, it’s like, “Whoa!”

Do you see yourself doing another superhero character or are you good with the crime dramas?
I have a deal with the Marvel Studios team, a four-picture commitment. I’m sure I’ll be back in something cool.

Screen Rant claims the studio is tossing around some names for the roles once occupied by Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Michael Chiklis and (now Captain America) Chris Evans.

Fox is supposedly eyeballing Adrien Brody and Jonathan Rhys Meyers to play stretchy brainiac Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, with Alice Eve (She’s Out Of My League) and Amber Heard wanted for transparent hottie Sue Storm/Invisible Girl.

Screen Rant also says The Thing will be completely crafted from CG, and the movie will NOT be titled Fantastic Four: Reborn.

If you’re curious why Fox is relaunching a superhero team that was just on screens in 2007, it’s because several studios who currently hold movie rights to various Marvel characters have to continually develop movies with them or risk giving them up to Marvel.

The excitement for what Joss Whedon might bring to The Avengers certainly exploded last month when the entire cast of the movie appeared on the Marvel Panel at Comic-Con International in San Diego.

One thing long-time “Whedonholics” were wondering was what the man behind Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Dollhouse, two very female-centric television shows, would be able to achieve with a superhero group made up mostly of men.

Talking to the Sunday Herald Sun (via Moviehole) for his upcoming “Australian tour”–apparently, Joss Whedon’s rock star status has him touring now–Whedon confirmed that Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow would not be the only female role in the movie:

“It is true that the movie is only going to have one female Avenger, but she will not be the only female character,” he told them, which makes us think some of the women from the other Marvel movies–maybe Gwyneth Paltrow’s Pepper Potts from the Iron Man movies?–would be making appearances in the movie.

Whedon is working hard on rewriting the script but he remained mum on what the plot would be, though he did say that it would incorporate a number of different Avengers stories, both from the original comics and the Ultimates version of the characters:

“It will be a new story that has many things from different arcs of the comics in it. There is no one Avengers story that you can just do the way that you can do the origin of Spider-Man. You really have to cull from the original and The Ultimates, which is one of The Avengers titles.”

So we don’t really know that much more except that The Avengers will continue the path paved by the previous Marvel Studios movies rather than being entirely faithful to any one version of the comic books.

Clark Kent says: Whedon doesn’t seem to be in a rush — as we’ll have to wait. The Avengers is scheduled to open May 4, 2012.

The Spider-Man reboot is looking for its female lead and Heat Vision claims to have the shortlist of actresses who have met for the part.

The articles also states that the character of Mary Jane Watson will not be the film’s love interest, leading to speculation that the storyline will add either Gwen Stacy, Felicia Hardy (Black Cat), another of Peter Parker’s past loves or may feature an all-new character created especially for the film.
