In 1970s England, three blue-collar friends spend their days joking, drinking, fighting and chasing girls. Freddie (Christian Cooke) wants to leave their working-class world but cool, charismatic Bruce (Tom Hughes) and lovable loser Snork (Jack Doolan) are happy with life the way it is. When Freddie gets a new job as a door-to-door salesman and bumps into his old school sweetheart Julie (Felicity Jones), the gang are forced to make choices that will change their lives for ever.

The film also co-stars Gervais, Ralph Fiennes, Emily Watson, and Matthew Goode. Judging from the trailer, it’s definitely a more dramatic effort than Lying, but Gervais previously insisted that it’s not a “depressing, gritty British movie about blue collar and working class.”

Another bad ass trailer has hit the fan and this time it’s for Warner Bros’ Clash of the Titans remake. A teaser trailer was released a while back, but now we’ve got a new one that’s filled with less cuts and more “clash.” Plus, we get our first real look at Hades and the infamous Kraken.

Just like the trailer for Iron Man 2, the latest Clash of the Titans footage has debuted over at Apple and is in glorious HD.

Clash of the Titans in a remake of the 1980’s flick of the same name that starred Harry Hamlin in the lead role as Perseus. In the 2010 version, Sam Worthington will play the bastard son of Zeus who gets caught in a power struggle between the gods. Hades is the film’s villain, and the vengeful god of the Underworld. A brave Perseus volunteers to take him down when his family falls victim to his merciless hand. From that point on he makes it his life’s mission to keep him from gaining Zeus’s power and unleashing hell on earth.

Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes look sick, and that’s meant in a good way. The special effects are amazing and really make the movie feel like it’s on an epic scale, without being too CGI heavy.

The most amazing part of the trailer has to be when Zeus utters those three famous words, “Release the Kraken!”

The teaser trailer for next year’s remake of the sword ‘n’ sorcery epic Clash Of The Titans has been released online.

Terminator Salvation’s Sam Worthington slips into Harry Hamlin’s sandals as the hero Perseus, son of Liam Neeson’s Zeus.

Perseus is amgry at his father’s plans for him and determined thwart them and rescue princess Andromeda, played by Alexa Davalos who’s going to be sacrificed to the Kraken a ferocious sea monster.

Like the 1981 original, the remake boasts a wealth of big-name talent (Neeson aside, the cast includes Ralph Fiennes, Pete Postlethwaite, Danny Huston, Jason Flemyng and Nicholas Hoult).

Unlike the 1981 original, this remake is aimed squarely at the MTV generation. It’s be high-octane, all-action stuff, with the latest big-bang CGI effects and a soundtrack partly composed by Matt Bellamy of Muse.

No doubt a fuller trailer will be shortly forthcoming, but this will have whet your appetite for now.

Scottish star Gerard Butler is to beef up the cast of Ralph Fiennes’ directorial début Coriolanus.

Butler will play Tullus Aufidius while Fiennes will play the title role in this contemporary version of Shakespeare’s political and family drama, set to start shooting in Serbia on March 1 2010.

Butler joins a cast that already includes William Hurt, Eddie Marsan, Jessica Chastain and Vanessa Redgrave.

“It’s thrilling that Gerard Butler is going to play Tullus Aufidius in Coriolanus. He has an extraordinary dynamic and commanding presence which is perfect for the role of Coriolanus’ sworn enemy and nemesis,” said Fiennes.

Produced by Julia Taylor-Stanley (Artemis Films), Gabrielle Tana (Magnolia Mae Films) and Colin Vaines (Synchronistic), Coriolanus is being sold internationally by Icon Entertainment International (IEI). The play is adapted for the screen by John Logan.

Other titles currently being represented by IEI at the AFM include West Is West, the sequel to East is East, Jim Loach’s Oranges And Sunshine starring Emily Watson, Julie Taymor’s The Tempest starring Helen Mirren and Karl Golden’s drama Pelican Blood starring Harry Treadaway and Emma Booth.
