The duo would play female characters they developed during their stand up comedy days in the caper film.

Clark Kent says: When they did the sketch for the BET Awards a while back, folks were calling for this to be real. I guess Martin and Jamie heard your cries. Read more after the jump.

VIA CS:

Foxx will write the script and he and Martin will produce together through Foxx’s Foxxhole and Lawrence’s Runteldat production companies.

The project originated as a parody of a movie trailer for a film called “Skank Robbers,” which Foxx and Lawrence made for the BET Awards (watch below!). The reaction was strong enough that the duo decided to turn the concept into a real film.

In the comedy, Sheneneh and Wanda are modern day independent women trying to make it on their own, one bank robbery at a time.

Clark Kent says: If you need a taste of what to expect from Martin and Jamie, check it out below!!!

It seemed like maybe Adam Sandler was looking at ripping that crap-of-a-comedy stigma from him when he starred in Funny People, reminding the world that the old Sandler was a mix of ridiculous laughs and dramedy. But here’s another reason to assume that was just a random blip in lowest common denominator fare: Variety reports that Columbia Pictures has grabbed the actor to star in a romantic comedy called Jack and Jill.

VIA C:

Rom-com can mean many things, and potentially even something good for the actor, but get a load of this: He will “play Jack as well as his twin sister Jill.” And it was written by Steve Koren (old SNL scribe behind the Almighty flicks, Night at the Roxbury, and Superstar.) That’s all we know. Considering the “rom” part, I’d hope that there’s a love interest outside of this duo, because who would want to see Sandler-on-Sandler incest?

Yes, I’m being negative, but it all comes from how the project was positioned and revealed. Should we expect anything more from a romantic comedy when the powers that be decide to kick things off by talking about Sandler cross-dressing? If that’s the notable part of the news designed to start perking interests, there’s definitely a Happy Madison bend to the whole thing. And yes, his company is producing.

Clark Kent says: I don’t really have an opinion on this. Sandler’s been hit and miss for a while now. So, if it works, yay! If not, eh…

VIA C:

Let’s let your heart rate settle back to normal. Is it? All right then. According to The Hollywood Reporter and its misleading headline, Mike Mitchell is indeed directing a film called Monster Squad for Warner Bros. Like Dekker’s film, it too is a supernatural comedy. But unlike Dekker’s film, it once boasted the title Nightcrawlers, and was based on a spec by Brian Lynch.

It’s reportedly changed plotlines numerous times. Variety notes that it was once centered on an international organization of children who have made it their mission to combat the monsters under the bed. (Familiar!) Michael Arndt rewrote the script to star a neurotic father who must face down childhood monsters. Warner Bros is keeping the current version by Brad Copeland under tight wraps, but it doesn’t take much to suppose it deals with “monsters” and a “squad” that deals with them on some level. All teasing aside, this is good news because it means Warner Bros has opted for an original (but undoubtedly reminiscent) idea over their rival Paramount, who was toying with a remake as of last year.

The news comes courtesy of Peter Berg, who let the news slip today while at the Toronto Film Festival. “Everybody’s going to come back for a sequel.” However, Sony stressed that none of the talent has been officially signed.

Berg also revealed some of the secret plot details — and here we venture into spoiler territory for Hancock, so look away if you want. Theron and Smith will reprise their roles as “immortal gods,” who lose their powers when they hang around each other for too long. Nevertheless, they must pair up to destroy a third “entity,” which I’m guessing is either some kind of alien or another god. The movie will also explore their 3,000 year old home world which was only hinted at in the first film. Bateman will play the humble PR executive, though I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s revealed to have some kind of superpower at the end! No release date for Hancock 2 has been set, and the film is still in the early writing stage, but I bet you’ll see this kick off just in time to compete with the next slate of Marvel films.

Clark Kent says: I didn’t really enjoy the first Hancock so I’m not really hopping the fence to see this one.

Variety now reports that they’ve secured the rights, and have now set Alfred Gough and Miles Millar to work on penning the script. Bay is attached as producer, but is still dancing around the idea of directing the film for DreamWorks.

I Am Number 4 is the first book in a series of six. It’s centered around a group of nine aliens who flee their destroyed planet, and crash on Earth. They disguise themselves as teenagers (of course — why would you be a supermodel or a sports star when you could go back to high school?), and Number 4 realizes they are still being hunted by those who destroyed their homeworld. There’s some dashes of the television show Roswell there, and probably a few dozen other sci-fi teen tales.

The teen-out-of-water story of Number 4 is familiar territory for Millar and Gough, who are probably best known for their stint on Smallville, though they also had a hand in Spider-Man 2. What I find the most remarkable about is the continued success of Frey. Who says lying about your memoirs will damage your writing career and option prospects? This is America, baby!

Clark Kent says: When will Smallville finally bite the dust…? I don’t even have cable, yet the show still annoys the shiite out of me…

Clark Kent says: I’ll give her some thumbs up… but it won’t be for reading! Haha!

VIA SF:

Jolie’s character bit it in the first movie, and at the time she said that it was likely a permanent death. (Fox dying was actually Jolie’s idea.) But she was responsible for a lot of the first movie’s business, so it’s no surprise that Universal wants her back. With Jolie, Wanted 2 is a tentpole. Without her, it’s just another sequel. On the prospect of bringing the character back, Bekmambetov tells MTV:

If you remember from the first film, we have a recovery room with the baths of wax. We know how to do this, but it’s still tough to do, because the bullet is inside her head…But there has to be a reason for her to come back… and we know the reason. I think we found the reason for her to come back.

But as Thompson notes, bringing Jolie back won’t be cheap. Wanted did surprisingly well, but if she asks for more for the sequel, will Universal pony up? And is the idea to bring Fox back really going to look like anything but a cheap Marvel Comics-style cop out of a legitimate character death?

Clark Kent says: The graphic novels are better, but seeing Jolie and her sexy lips on an IMAX screen is well enough for me to hit up a theater or two. What do YOU think?

Hello, and welcome to another exciting round of ‘What Will Bryan Singer Direct Next?’

Will it be:

a)	the Battlestar Galactica reboot that was announced last week, or
b)	X-Men: First Class, the ‘young mutants’ X-Men spin-off written by Hosh Schwartz, which Singer, the original X-director, has been mulling over, or
c)	The remake of Excalibur, John Boorman’s classic adaptation of the King Arthur legend, which was announced today, or
d)	None of the above?

VIA E:

Well, frankly, it looks like d) at the moment.

Although Variety is reporting that Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures today concluded months of negotiations with Boorman to purchase the rights for Excalibur, that low-down and dirty fantasy epic that featured the likes of Nicol Williamson, Helen Mirren, Liam Neeson and Patrick Stewart, with a view to Singer directing, it appears that, with no writer on board, won’t become Singer’s first movie since Valkyrie.

In fact, it seems that the 43 year-old director is merely stockpiling projects so he can move on quickly after his actual next movie. And that movie seems likely to be…

Jack The Giant Killer, a new take on the classic fairy-tale, Jack And The Beanstalk, in which a young farmer ventures into a land ruled by giants, in the hope of rescuing a beautiful princess.

It seems more light-hearted than anything Singer has done before, but that may not be a bad thing. Darren Lemke and Mark Bomback wrote the script for the New Line-Legendary movie, while Neal Moritz will produce.

Of course, Singer hasn’t yet confirmed that Jack The Giant Killer will be his next project, but it certainly seems ready to go, and we’d rather see him do something new, rather than potentially sully his X-legacy by directing First Class. If you had your choice, readers, what would you have Singer do?
